This past Friday morning, 3 of my friends and I headed out to the Memphis zoo. We decided I guess at some point when we were crazy that taking our 7 (I left Mary Elliott at home... thank goodness!) kids would be fun and somewhat easy. WRONG! It was 90 degress by the time we got there at 10 a.m. Nevermind the PACKED out place with all the kids who had just gotten out of school. By the time we left we all were hot, soaking wet from sweat and all smelled like elephant poop.
I should also note that I am probably the least fan of a zoo that there ever was, so what I was thinking I don't know! Everytime I am at one I want to lace up my running shoes, run as fast as I can unlocking all the gates and let all the animals loose. It is just cruel to have these gorgeous animals locked up. The poor panda bear is the one that really got me this time.... that poor thing was put up in a 40 x 30 glass cage when he should be roaming the better part of china.
There is my soap box for the day....
Most of my pics wouldn't upload, so here are just a few!
Good thing we took all this riding gear.... they all wanted to walk!
From left to right, Bounds(2); Sarah Foster(1); Parker(3); Allie(3); Charlotte (3); Causey(5)
We were so delirious when we got home, (gone from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) I told Allie to go get out of her stinky clothes and this is what she put on!
So, all in all.... zoo's are better in theory!
