Why? This is Allie's new favorite word. She 'why's' everything, whether it can be questioned or not. Why, Why, Why.... I really think she just likes to hear herself say the word. I, the great mother that I am, told Frank that I really wanted to have a good answer everytime that my child asked me why. For those of you who know me well know that I can come up with some deep thoughts and questions myself, so i figured that she came by it honestly and since I can relate to her curiosity I thought I would never leave her pondering. (marty, i'm pretty sure that was a run-on. sorry, i don't really know how to fix it!!)
Anyway, she finally went on and on one day for so long that I thought I would share. I promise I am not exaggerating.
Allie: where is daddy?
mommy: daddy's at work.
Allie: why?
mommy: because that is what most daddy's have to do, they go to work on the weekdays.
Allie: why?
mommy: to make money
Allie: why?
mommy: to provide for you, me and Mary Elliott
Allie: why?
mommy: so that we can have food on our table and have a secure future
Allie: why?
mommy: because that is what God ordained for daddy's and husbands to do.
Allie: why?
mommy: because when man sinned for the 1st time, his punishment was that he would have to work in order to survive.
Allie: why?
mommy: because when we disobey we get punished, remember? And Adam and Eve sinned, so therefore they got punished.
Allie: why?
mommy: Allie, sweetheart, i really don't know, I guess Eve just really wanted the apple.
Allie: I want an apple mommy.
mommy: (FINALLY!!) ok sweetheart, lets get you an apple. then realizing we are out of apples.
uh,oh, allie, we are out of apples, how about a carrot?
Allie: why?
mommy: oh dear...................
